HUNGARORING TESTING: 10 FORMULA 3 CHALLENGERS READY FOR THE SEASON OPENER
Two testing days have been organized by Marzi Sport on the Hungarian circuit, the last ahead of the season opener at the Ricardo Tormo of Valencia. The best time was set by Eddie Cheever ahead of his team mate Brandon Maisano with the Dallaras lined up by Prema Powerteam.
18/03/2012 - Two weeks are left before the first green lights of the season will go off at the Ricardo Tormo of Valencia. While waiting for the first of April, the teams of the Italian Formula 3 European Series run two days of test at Hungaroring where a lot of novelties have been introduced. The first was certainly the agreement between Gerard Barrabeig and team Ghinzani. The Catalan driver will side Robert Visoiu in the team led by Piercarlo Ghinzani that decided to bet on two very young drivers coming from Formula Abarth for season 2012.

The reigning champion of the Italian Formula Abarth, Patric Niederhauser, took part in the in the two testing days held in Hungary too. The Swiss driver involved in the 2012 edition of the GP3 with team Jenzer Motorsport learnt the track on the Tatuus of the red-crossed team, while he switched to the BVM branded Dallara today. Nothing has been decided yet, but Niederhauser's interest in the tricolored series is still high so... never say never.

The cars lined up by Prema Powerteam led the field on the Hungarian track as Brandon Maisano secured the first position on Saturday, while today the best time was set by Eddie Cheever that completed the lap in 1'38''652, three tenths faster that his team mate Maisano. Riccardo Agostini (JD Motorsport) kept improving as he was fourth in the first day and moved up to third today, swapping position with Sergey Sirotkin (Euronova); the latter will be racing this year both in the Italian Formula 3 European Series and in Auto GP.

The fifth and sixth position of both days went to the young couple of team Ghinzani, Robert Visoiu and Gerard Barrabeig. Visoiu's best time was a 1'39''031, while is team mate's fastest lap was done in a good 1'39'547. Patric Niederhauser (BVM), was seventh today while the same place was held yesterday by the Brazilian of Prema Powerteam, Enrique Martins, who did not manage to improve today due to an excursion in the morning session. Very good progress for Mario Marasca (BVM) who improved his best time by more than half a second between the first and second day of the test. Yoshitaka Kuroda (Euronova) also improved a lot in the second day.
